SIYU AWARD 2026 with Alois Ottiger Grant

22.01.2026

The date is set for 1 February 2026: the SIYU AWARD will be presented once again. The team is delighted that, starting in 2026, the SIYU AWARD will be able to award the newly created Alois Ottiger Grant, which will be divided into prize money and production contributions.

Funded by the legacy of photographer Alois Ottiger, who died in 2025, the grant stands for long-term and sustainable support for young photographers in Switzerland. It is not intended as a one-off award, but rather as a continuous investment in the artistic development of young talent. The Alois Ottiger Grant aims to create space for experimentation, exploration and visibility, thereby making a lasting contribution to the vitality and diversity of the Swiss photography scene. Alois Ottiger's siblings have established the grant as an annual award for young Swiss photographers, which will be presented as part of the SIYU AWARD in the coming years. With substantial prize money (1st prize: CHF 5,000; 2nd prize: CHF 3,000; 3rd prize: CHF 2,000) as well as subsidies for image production (prints, etc.) and catalogue costs, the Alois Ottiger Grant specifically supports new voices in contemporary photography with substantial sums and encourages them on their artistic path. The SIYU AWARD team is delighted with the great trust placed in us with the awarding of the Alois Ottiger Grant and looks forward to launching the 2026 call for entries soon.
