Thomas Weber and his partner Ursula Capaul revived the Alpa name in the 1990s. Since then, the medium format system camera has become the tool of choice for many professionals. Now its initiator and designer is no longer with us.
According to a statement issued by Alpa in Dübendorf, Thomas Weber, founder and co-owner of Alpa, passed away on 11 January 2026 at the age of 79.
