Successful return SIYU AWARD – new impetus for young photography
After a two-year hiatus, the SIYU AWARD (formerly vfg Young Talent Photography Award) celebrated a successful comeback this autumn. The group exhibition of the ten finalists, selected from over 140 submissions, came to an end on 2 November in Zurich – with consistently positive feedback from the photography scene.
The newly relaunched award has proven to be an inspiring platform for young photographic talent. At the vernissage and other events, the public had the opportunity to get to know the artistic practices and perspectives of the finalists – and to engage with new photographic perspectives.
The ten selected artists were Louisa Taos Azzouz, Inès Riber, Tianyu Wang, Anna-Tia Buss, Jagoda Wisniewska, Sean Charlton White, Yohan Nieto, Lukas Maeder, Christian Schmid and Matthias Joulaud.
The jury, consisting of Lisa Schneider (director of 13Photo, Zurich), Virginie Rebetez (artist and photographer, Lausanne) and Dominic Nahr (photographer, NZZ, Zurich), unanimously selected Tianyu Wang's work ‘Hiding and Seeking’ as the winner of the SIYU AWARD 2025, which comes with a prize of CHF 3,000.
The SIYU team is delighted with the successful relaunch: ‘We are overwhelmed by the positive feedback and would like to thank everyone who made this first round possible – namely SIYU and some of its sections, Photobastei and the goodwill of many individuals.’
The second year is set to begin soon with fresh energy and ‘exciting news’. Stay tuned – your SIYU AWARD team: Susanne, Lea, Clara and Frederik.
