AI – copyright law in transition
On 23 October 2025, the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) held the CLTR 2025 conference at the Kornhaus in Bern. The event provided a platform for around 120 participants to discuss solutions for regulating AI in copyright law.
After three presentations on different topics, three focus topics were discussed in a World Café dialogue: Are special exceptions (limitations) in copyright law necessary for AI applications? Should remuneration be paid via a collecting society and does an opt-out make sense? How can Switzerland remain an innovation-friendly location despite or thanks to regulation? The results of the World Café were received by the IPI and will be incorporated into further work. Next, the Council of States will deal with the amended Gössi motion. If it is accepted, the drafting of a bill will be initiated, which i
