On 16 April, the Zurich Section’s AGM took place at the Fotostiftung. As a prelude to the meeting, we were treated to a guided tour of Ester Vonplon’s magnificent exhibition ‘Flügelschlag’
Ester’s experimental works, some of which are large-scale, are impressive demonstrations of what photography is capable of – when it strays from the path of figurative representation. Here and there, conversations broke out; it was a lovely way to start the AGM.
Just under 30 voting members and a few guests listened to the board’s report, led by Co-President Anja Wurm. With such a large section – as Stefano Schröter, the person in charge, explained, we have “almost 300 members between the Gotthard and Lake Constance!” – there is also plenty to discuss: particularly on the events front, we have a lot in the pipeline with the bildersoirées, the SIYU AWARD, the pool collective and, new from October 2026, the biennial and nationally conceived SIYU exhibition f/2.6, as the relevant speakers explained.
At the start of the second half of the event, Philippe Wiget concluded by speaking once more about the ‘drone affair’. Together with André Oldani, he had undertaken the review of this unpleasant and costly matter, as promised at the 2025 AGM, and thus laid out the facts with complete transparency. A topic that may not be fully resolved, but has at least been addressed, which the Board can now put to rest with a clear conscience.
Shortly after 8 pm, this AGM also drew to a close with a cosy dinner at Momos.
[P.S.: The repeated call for people to apply for Susanne’s vacant seat on the PK has been successful: Sandra Stamm and Walter M. Huber have put themselves forward. THANK YOU both!]
